The impact of an education at Tate’s School is evident in the achievements of both current students and graduates. Two of Tate’s most recent alumni, now freshmen at Knoxville Catholic High School, received the Monsignor Thoni Award as an acknowledgement of their outstanding character both in and out of the classroom. Xander Levins and Andrew Van Hook (R) were presented with the awards upon being nominated by the faculty and staff at Catholic High School. The award is named after Monsignor Thoni, who was a basketball coach, teacher, and athletic director at KCHS.

To be nominated for this prestigious honor, students must exhibit the values defined in the school’s motto, “Ut Christum Feram” (That I May Bear Christ), which include spirituality, character, attitude, work ethic, service, spirit, random acts of kindness or a focus on the needs and well-being of other students. Faculty and staff nominate students who excel in exhibiting these values throughout the year. Monsignor Thoni award recipients are not acknowledged based on their achievements in the classroom; rather, the students are recognized for their character and success holistically. With that said, both Xander and Andrew are excelling academically in addition to being acknowledged for their strong character. Tate’s is proud and honored to have two alumni recipients for this distinguished award. Congratulations Andrew and Xander!
